Description:
Have you ever wondered how those stunning gowns on the red carpet stay properly positioned with no wardrobe malfunctions? In this class each student will create a beautiful one-of-a-kind gown or party dress that fits perfectly. The dress will be supported by a form-fitting boned facing that serves to keep everything in its proper place.
Supplies:
Muslin for test garment
Muslin, batiste, or bobbinet for corselet
Fashion fabric for gown
Lining fabric for gown
Spiral boning (we will go over this in class)
1 yd. white or natural silk organza
Hook and eye tape for corselet
1 yd. (more for larger waistlines) grosgrain or petersham ribbon, 1’ to 1 1⁄4” wide
Nylon horsehair
Students will select a pattern of their choice. It should be a strapless dress with a fitted bodice.
